 The two schools have established their relationship since 2001. Many outstanding teachers from the CPU also chose Texas-based SHSU to further their studies, enhancing their teaching ability in the field of criminal justice.
SHSU, with a total of 18,400 students, was the first institution in the U.S. to establish a doctoral program in criminal justice.
The College of Criminal Justice at Sam Houston State University continues to set the national standard for the study of criminal justice in higher education. Since 1963, the college has been at the forefront of both criminal justice research and criminal justice sciences.
Dr. Vicent Webb, Dean of the college, along with representatives from SHSU and Dr. Nicolas Lovrich, Emeritus Professor at Washington State University, came to Taiwan to participate in the annual meeting of the 2013 Asian Association of Police Studies, and also visited the CPU to renew the agreement.

Hsieh, Hsiu-neng, the president of the CPU, welcomed the visiting delegation and stated that the cooperation between the two universities provided students with greater opportunities to study abroad, and also allowed the professors to participate in international research projects and academic seminars, resulting in greater potential for internationalization.
